10 MPs vote for independence of NKR

The draft law on the recognition of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic’s independence by Armenia was put to the vote in the Armenian parliament today. The draft was submitted by the head of Heritage faction Zaruhi Postanjian.

10 deputies voted for the draft law’s adoption and one deputy abstained.

The coalition parties – Orinats Yerkir Party and Republican Party of Armenia did not participate in the vote. Prosperous Armenia Party and the Armenian National Congress also refused to vote.

The representatives of these political forces consider it inexpedient to recognize the independence of the NKR at the current stage.
