With purchase of Smerch, Azerbaijan has Yerevan in its sights

“Many fail to understand how – in the context of Armenian-Russian strategic partnership – Russia sells a weapon, which can be used to launch attacks on Yerevan, to Azerbaijan,” Armenian parliamentary deputy Nikol Pashinian said today at the joint sitting of the Armenian National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Russian State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs and Eurasian Integration. In his words, following the sale of the Smerch system, Yerevan, is in fact in Azerbaijan’s sights and so is the Russian embassy based in Yerevan.
