Leak from Zangezur Combine’s tailing dump stopped

The leak from the tailing dump of Zangezur Copper and Molybdenum Combine has been stopped and an investigation is being conducted, EcoLur was informed by Levon Petrosian, the head of the Syunik regional environmental protection inspectorate of Ministry of Nature Protection.

In response to the question about the amount of damage, he advised EcoLur to address that question to the Nature Protection Ministry’s press service whose employees said that they answer only written questions.

On November 15 EcoLur received an alarm call from Syunik province about a crack in the pipeline, through which the Zangezur Combine’s waste is transported to Artsvanik tailing dump. As a result, the waste was being discharged into the Norashenik River.
