E. Nalbandian: Armenia wants to continue cooperation with EU

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian declined to answer the question about the Armenian delegation’s composition at the Eastern Partnership summit due in Vilnius in late November.

“Information will be provided in due time,” Naldandian told reporters.

Asked if Ukraine’s decision will affect Armenia’s plans, the foreign minister stressed that each country decides for itself how to develop its relations with neighbors and regional structures. “As regards our relations with the European Union, we have repeatedly made statements in this connection. Armenia wants to continue cooperation with the EU in all the possible directions, which was said in the statement issued following the meeting with Catherine Ashton in Brussels. She said for her part that the European Union wants to continue cooperation in all directions compatible with Armenia’s membership in the Customs Union. I have nothing to add,” Nalbandian said.

Speaking about the issue of Vahan Hovhannisian’s appointment as Armenian ambassador to Germany, the foreign minister noted that the appointment process is not a subject for public discussion. “When the process of an ambassador’s appointment is completed, a decision is taken and an announcement is made. I don’t mean a specific appointment. It is the established order,” he said.
