Shahnazarian: Putin thinks he visits Russian base, and not Armenia
After the Armenian president’s September 3 announcement about Armenia’s entry into the Customs Union, political forces should have demanded his resignation, the head of Accord Center David Shahnazarian told reporters today.
“The authorities became pro-Russian after the pressure on September 3, while the opposition has been pro-Russian from the start. By making his statement, Serzh Sargsyan gave Russia a mandate to rule Armenia,” Shahnazarian said.
In his words, in early December Russian President Vladimir Putin is going to visit the Russian military base and the adjacent areas, rather than Armenia. “Putin thinks he is visiting a Russian region,” he noted.
