David Shahnazarian: Armenian parliament controlled by Russia

The Armenian parliament is controlled by Russia, the head of Accord Center David Shahnazarian said at a press conference today.

According to him, the majority of parliamentary deputies are controlled by President Serzh Sargsyan, others are controlled by Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) and the Armenian National Congress (HAK), and some are controlled by second President Robert Kocharian.

“The entire political system serves Russia’s interests so BHK and HAK will never demand Serzh Sargsyan’s resignation as this political system can only exist under the patronage of Russia, “ Shahnazarian said.

“The so-called political system of Armenia explains that the decision on entry into the Customs Union was due to security reasons. Except for a few deputies, the current parliament’s function is to formulate legally that we are not an independent state,” Shahnazarian said.
