Protest against entry into CU staged outside presidential residence

Chairman of the Union for Self-Determination (AIM) Party Paruyr Hayrikian began today a three-day protest outside the presidential residence. He demands that Armenia cancel its decision to join the Customs Union.

“Unless President Serzh Sargsyan goes to Vilnius in person and signs the Association Agreement, he will put us all in an awkward position. The president spoke about an ‘and, and,’ policy so he must go to Vilnius. Following its entry into the Customs Union, Armenia will have no future,” Hayrikian told journalists.

Protesters hold placards reading ‘Vilnius or resignation’, ‘No to the Customs Union’, ‘No to the Russian Empire, and ‘No to imposed USSR’.
