Hakob Injighulians’ mother sends open letter to Armenian president

Gayane Injighulian, the mother of Armenian soldier Hakob Injighulian held captive in Azerbaijan, sent an open letter to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, asking him to discuss, if possible, the issue of returning her son at the upcoming meeting with Azerbaijani president.

“My son Hakob Georgi Injighulian, a conscript, was captured by Azerbaijanis and has been held captive since August 8, 2013.
It is not only my son who is held in captivity – our family, our inner peace, and our faith in tomorrow are in captivity.

It is needless to describe the painful emotions experienced by all of us, especially by me.

I would like to mention that my son has health problems and his condition will become acute under such conditions.

You also have children and you can imagine the state of a parent whose son is held captive.

I am prepared to give my own life to save my son, but alas, this is impossible.

On behalf of Hakob’s 80-year-old grandmother, all members of our family, and myself, I ask you to take over the control of the issue’s solution. Hakob is not only my son, but he is also a serviceman who voluntarily joined the Armenian army, who entrusted his life to the state. I am convinced that the pain and tears of a mother whose son was taken captive will not leave you indifferent.

We ask you to discuss, if possible, the issue at the upcoming meeting with the president of Azerbaijan.

We are familiar with the glorious pages of your biography. We know that, prior to becoming the president of Armenia, you were a soldier devoted to our nation, therefore you can imagine the horror of the situation,” Gayane Injighulian’s letter reads.
