Manucharian: Armenia should maintain good relations with Russia ad EU

Armenia should maintain good relations with both Russia and the European Union, member of the former Karabakh Committee Ashot Manucharian said at a press conference today, commenting on domestic and foreign policy problems.

“Armenia should maintain good-neighborly relations with all the political centers of the world. Russia is trying today to restore its geopolitical influence in the post-Soviet space. It is trying to establish control over Azerbaijan, which is currently under Anglo-Saxon and Israeli influence, ” Manucharian said.

In his words, the West for its part would like Armenia to reverse its decision in favor of the Customs Union.

As regards rumors about plans to rename the city of Gyumri Alexandropol, Manucharian said such an ‘exotic’ thing is unlikely.
