Vigen Sargsyan: Russia nullified export duties prior to entry into CU

“By signing the documents yesterday, Russia made an important move as a partner – prior to Armenia’s entry into the Customs Union, Russia nullified export duties on basic commodities it exports, which is important for our economy,” the Chief of the Armenian President’s Staff Vigen Sargsyan told reporters today.

In his words, this process should begin prior to Armenia’s entry into the Customs Union. “The results of yesterday’s meetings and talks are important from the economic point of view,” V. Sargsyan stressed.

According to him, the abolition of Russian export duties on raw materials will allow Armenia’s economy and consumers to purchase fuel, gas, and rough diamonds at affordable prices and will contribute to the development of gem and jewelry sector.
