Defense ministry: Actions of Armenian troops to be preventive and tough

At the meeting of Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanian with the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs on November 5, 2013, an appeal was made to show restraint concerning military actions. In response to that appeal, by the Armenian defense minister’s order, the Armenian side did not fire a single shot during this period, the Armenian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

“The December 14, 2013 incident, during which contract serviceman, Private Hrant Poghosian died in the gunfire opened by the Azerbaijani side, shows once again that the Azerbaijani side, in defiance of the calls of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-chair, continues its constant policy of ignoring the ceasefire regime, particularly at the time of the Co-Chairs’ visit to Baku.

As a result of all this, the actions of the Armenian Armed Forces will be preventive and tough,” the statement reads.
