Birth rate declines 1.9% in Armenia

30,477 children were born in Armenia in the first nine months of 2013, which is by 1.9 %  less than in the same period of last year - 31, 055 births, the head of the National Statistical Service’s Census and Demography Unit Karine Kyumjian told reporters today.

Mortality also declined in the country in January-September 2013 – 20,268 deaths compared with 20,898 in the same period of 2012. Armenia’s population increased by five people in the reporting period.
