Gallup poll: Collapse of USSR did more harm than good

Next week it will be 20 years since the USSR collapsed. In this connection Gallup Organization conducted a public opinion poll in 11 states which were previously republics of the USSR. According to the poll, residents of these states believe that the collapse of the Soviet Union did more harm than good.

51% of respondents said the collapse of the USSR did harm than good, 24% said the opposite. Only Azerbaijanis, Kazakhs and Turkmens consider the breakup of the USSR beneficial. Georgians have divided on the issue. In Armenia, 12% of respondents said the USSR collapse did good, while 66% said it did harm.
