Poverty allowance receivers to be given ID cards free of charge

Members of families receiving a poverty allowance and citizens who have turned 16 will receive their ID cards free of charge, the head of Passport and Visa Department of the Armenian Police Norayr Muradkhanian said at a press conference today. According to him, all Armenian citizens are not required to get their ID cards and biometric passports now. They will do it when their passports expire, and those passports that expire after January 1, 2014 will be replaced by biometric passports.

The passport department head said that state duties for an ID card and a biometric passport are 3,000 drams and 25,000 drams respectively.
