MES receives 277 calls in holiday period

The New Year holiday period was relatively quiet: no emergency situations were recorded, the head of Crisis Management Center of Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) Hovhannes Khangeldian said at a meeting with reporters today when presenting recent statistics.

According to him, most calls were related to domestic problems caused mainly by burst water pipes. There were also quite a lot of calls from people who lost their apartment keys.

MES received 277 calls on December 31-January 8, including 105 calls about fires, 125 calls were related to domestic problems, 66 – to burst pipes, 15 road accidents, 13 poisoning cases, 5 calls about discovery of a body, 2 attempted suicides, and one explosion.

During that period 12 people died in emergencies, including 6 deaths in road accidents, one in an explosion, and 5 bodies were found.
