Ashotian: Kocharian’s comeback is not subject for discussion
“Those years were ours as well so there is no need for such harsh criticism because it was our common history. Yet the assessments of the second Armenian president are amazing, “ Armenian Minister of Education and Science, deputy chairman of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) Armen Ashotian told a press conference when commenting on ex-President Robert Kocharian’s recent interview.
In his words, in 1998-2008 HHK became one of the strongholds of the government system.
Ashotian said that the opinion, according to which R. Kocharian thus wants to return to politics. is not a subject for discussion.
“First of all, Kocharian used to say that three conditions are necessary for his political comeback: the grave situation in the country, demand of the people, and his own wish. It is obvious that the first two conditions are absent. I can’t say anything about the third one,” Ashotian noted.
“Life shows that political figures speak about economy only when they want to solve political problems,” Ashotian said.
