Sos Gimishian: Robert Kocharian cannot return to politics

Second Armenian President Robert Kocharian wants to return to politics and this desire is so great that it makes no difference to him how to attract attention to himself, the head of Christian and Popular Revival Party Sos Gimishian said at a meeting with reporters today when commenting on Robert Kocharian’s recent interview and the possibility of his political comeback.

Gimishian expressed an opinion that since 1990 there has been no official who has the right to criticize others. “They all worked badly and made many mistakes. Offences were committed during Robert Kocharian’s rule as well. However hard Kocharian tries to return to politics, he will fail to do it,” Gimishian noted. He described the second Armenian president as a good organizer who can organize work well if he gets the post.

When asked if Robert Kocharian can become the leader of the four opposition political forces, Sos Gimishian said that this is unlikely because the political forces will not agree to that.

“This option is doomed to fail. Of course, nothing can be ruled out, but it is obvious that these political forces pursue different goals. ARFD and Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) cooperated closely with Robert Kocharian and he can also support them today, but there are also Heritage Party and Armenian National Congress (HAK)-Armenian All-National Movement (HHSh),” Gimishian noted.

In his words, Robert Kocharian’s comeback is possible if he manages to become prime minister, for example. “After becoming an official, he will start issuing orders and may achieve a result by means of pressure and ‘drawing’ of figures,” the speaker noted.
