'Authorities try to distract society’s attention from domestic problems'
The dispute between the former Armenian President Robert Kocharian and the current Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan is just an attempt by the authorities to distract the society’s attention from domestic political problems, member of the board of Armenian National Congress (HAK) Vladimir Karapetian said at a meeting with reporters today.
“What political team can Kocharian return with? At the moment we can say that nothing more than a dispute is taking place,” Karapetian noted.
Asked if he sees any forces in the political field who could help Kocharian make a comeback, V. Karapetian replied: “Do you see such forces?”
In his words, when HAK leader Levon Ter-Petrosian makes a statement, it is followed by comments and publications of his supporters and HAK representatives who try to respond to criticism and explain the statements made, but such a thing did not happen in case of Robert Kocharian.
In response to the remark that at one time Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) and ARFD were Robert Kocharian’s supporters, Vladimir Karapetian said: “Can you mention a political figure who would defend Kocharian, while some figures defended Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan by making statements”.
