Bakhshian: Gas price hike and pension reform are misfortune of people

The introduction of the compulsory accumulative pension system and the rise in the gas tariff became a real misfortune for the Armenian population. Member of Heritage Party Ms. Anahit Bakhshian expressed that opinion at a meeting with journalists today.

According to her, the struggle of the four non-coalition factions of the Armenian parliament against the compulsory pension system cannot be crowned with success because the government is set to press ahead with the reform.

“The Constitutional Court of Armenia will not recognize that law as anti-constitutional. The Constitutional Court will not go against the authorities. The law will remain in force at any cost,” A. Bakhshian noted.

Another participant of the meeting, member of the Republican Party of Armenia Lernik Alexanian said for his part that only a few sections of the population are concerned about the problem of the compulsory accumulative pension system’s use, therefore their actions cannot snowball into a national struggle against the authorities.

He said that the attempt to condition solution of economic problems by a change of power is profiteering. “For solution of a problem, one should not demand a change of power,” he said.
