HKR Defense Ministry: Azeri captain killed in sabotage act, not today
The Defense Ministry of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic issued a statement refuting the Azerbaijani propaganda machine’s information that Elnur Jafavor, a captain of the Azerbaijani armed forces, was allegedly killed on January 23 as a result of a ceasefire violation by the Karabakh side.
“To all appearance, what happened in the neighboring – but not friendly – country has to be considered not as a result of a ceasefire violation, but in the context of the subversive attempt to infiltrate into the NKR on the night of January 20,” the statement of the NKR Defense Ministry said.
The statement also notes that according to Azerbaijani mass media, two deaths and 6 cases of injuries were recorded in the Azerbaijani army on January 20-23. “One conclusion can be drawn from this: the Azerbaijani agitation and propaganda department is trying to ‘tactfully’ hint at what should have been openly admitted a few days ago,” the statement says, noting that “the frontline units of the NKR troops observe the ceasefire and take retaliatory actions only in case of need”.
