Navasardian: Integration with EU not to Armenian oligarchs’ advantage

Armenia and Ukraine differ in many ways. For this reason the developments taking place in Kiev don’t take place in Yerevan, the chairman of Yerevan Press Club Boris Navasardian said at a Facebook conference organized by RFE/RL Armenian service today.
“There are several factors and I will speak about the major ones,” he noted.

First of all, active citizens of Ukraine fully understand what Ukraine can gain from integration with the European Union. “The second important factor is oligarchy. The Armenian oligarchs have no business links or benefits from the EU, they don’t need such integration. Quite the opposite, European integration is advantageous to Ukrainian oligarchs, “ Navasardian said.

He indicated the opposition parties in Armenia and Ukraine as a third factor.

“Political parties in Ukraine understand that their achievements are related to the country’s citizens. Naturally, these parties are an alternative to Yanukovich. Unlike Ukrainian ones, our parties believe that success or failure depends on them,” Boris Navasardian said.
