‘Owners who sold cars with power of attorney have problems with APPA’

Achilles NGO dealing with motorists’ problems has recently received complaints and phone calls from drivers, most of whom insured their cars, but received fine tickets. The NGO chairman Edward Hovhannisian said that at a press conference today. According to him, in such cases drivers should immediately apply to the insurance company and demand an explanation.

The situation has changed in the sphere: drivers are now aware of their rights, and secondly, cameras have been installed, which made the task easier and enables to avoid a misunderstanding, E. Hovhannisian said.

“There are problems with cars sold with power of attorney. Some people who sold their cars with power of attorney, nevertheless received a fine ticket,” the NGO chairman noted, adding that most complaints are related to that problem.

Hovhannisian also spoke about a problem of taxi drivers: taxis are not insured. “In such cases we ask them to file a written application so that we could take action,” he said.

We would remind you that Armenian Motor Insurers’ Bureau warned that due to technical problems, some consumers, who conscientiously signed their APPA agreements and did not commit a violation, might also receive administrative notices for not having an APPA agreement.
