Speaker: If war forced on us, we will strike adequate counterblow

Unlike Azerbaijan, the Armenian authorities are in favor of a peaceful, negotiated settlement of the Karabakh problem, Speaker of the National Assembly Hovik Abrahamian said during his visit to a military unit in Tavush province of Armenia.

“But this desire cannot be unilateral. The Azerbaijani authorities have not yet pursued a reasonable policy. Of course, we want peace, but if a war is forced upon us, we will strike an adequate counterblow and defend our homeland,” H. Abrahamian said.

He wished peaceful and safe military service to the servicemen.

The parliamentary speaker then went to frontline posts and familiarized himself with the conditions there.
