David Babayan: EU does not determine OSCE Minsk Group format
The meeting of the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee has not produced results: the sides did not reach understanding on a joint statement and no document has been signed. It was stated that the statement’s section on the Nagorno Karabakh problem contained such formulations that prevented the Armenian side from signing the document.
During a talk with Aysor.am, the spokesman for the NKR president David Babayan said that he assesses the Armenian delegation’s decision as normal.
“If such non-binding documents contain the Karabakh problem-related provisions that are not advantageous to us, why not make a drastic decision. I see no problem here,” he noted.
In response to the question about his attitude to the fact that some members of the European Parliament voiced the issue of changing the format of the OSCE Minsk Group, particularly replacing France with the EU, David Babayan replied: “First of all, it is not European Parliament members who decide who should replace whom, secondly, there is no issue of the format change on the agenda, in any case France did not raise the issue of giving up its mandate”.
When asked why the issue was raised, Babayan said that an “Azerbaijani track” can be seen here.
“Information about Azerbaijan’s funding of European officials and deputies has been received recently. There are rumors about that even in sEuropean organizations. Azerbaijan does it best to put the negotiations on an uncertain, confused path,” David Babayan said.
