Nikolai Grigorian: Armenian seismic stations to be upgraded
“The earthquakes recorded around our republic do not pose a danger to us. Earthquakes have been recorded around us, but there is no reason to panic,” Deputy Director of the Rescue Service of Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations Nikolai Grigorian said at a meeting with reporters today.
“The situation is at the center of the minister’s attention. Serious measures are being taken to complete construction of the monitoring center near the Garni fault,’ he said.
According to N. Grigorian, most of the 150 seismic stations in Armenia are obsolete and it is planned to upgrade them in cooperation with U.S., Japanese and Russian experts. “Besides, new monitoring centers are being built,” Grigorian said.
