Bako Sahakian: Baku’s destructive policy is biggest obstacle

President of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic Bako Sahakian participated in a consultation held at Foreign Ministry to summarize the work done in 2013 and discuss further activities in 2014, according to the press service of the NKR President’s Office.

Bako Sahakian said that the multi-vectoral principle will continue to be the basis of Artsakh’s foreign policy: a balanced, complementary policy will be implemented with respect to influential states and centers of power.

According to Sahakian, Baku’s destructive policy is the biggest obstacle to the settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict and endangers regional peace and stability.

When speaking about a peaceful resolution to the conflict, Bako Sahakian stressed that the NKR will continue to do consistent work aimed at restoring the efficient format of negotiations, particularly by persuading the interested structures that it is impossible to achieve a comprehensive resolution to the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict without official Stepanakert’s participation in all the stages of the negotiating process.

As for the international recognition of the Republic of Artsakh, the president underlined the positive tendencies, which inspire and also mpose responsibility.

“They inspire in the sense that the recognition process of the Republic of Artsakh is moving forward, showing that we are an established democratic state, which is an important basis for Artsakh’s international recognition. It imposes responsibility because we should keep the positive dynamics in the future as well,” the NKR president said.

He gave instructions for efficient organization of the MFA’s work and elimination of the shortcomings, noting that the state will do its best to help solve the ministry’s problems and improve the social and working conditions of its staff.
