Armenian traffic police comment on ‘fined dead man’ incident

Following the recent article ‘The Traffic Police Fined Dead Persons’, the Armenian Traffic Police said that based on the traffic rule volitions caught on road safety cameras, decisions are made concerning owners of vehicles included in the database of the Traffic Police.

‘As regards the circumstance that the decision concerned a dead person, the reason is that the heir to the vehicle’s owner (or the purchaser - if the car was sold) did not register that vehicle duly, as a result of which the vehicle remained registered in the name of the man who died,” the traffic police said in a statement, urging citizens who spread such information through the mass media, to check its veracity and reason, especially as the reason is often related to nonfulfillment of obligations by a citizen.
