Artak Zakarian: Military solution of Karabakh conflict ruled out

“We are going to join the Customs Union for ensuring the security of Nagorno Karabakh, but I think the situation with security is worse than it was before September 3,” the member of Armenian All-National Movement (HHSh) Hovhannes Igitian told reporters today.

He cited the example of the sale of arms and helicopters by Russia to Azerbaijan, saying that Russia should declare that Armenia is its strategic partner and give certain preferences.

Deputy of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) parliamentary faction Artak Zakarian said for his part that Azerbaijan hindered Armenia’s participation in integration processes.

‘Azerbaijan understands clearly that Armenia is leading Karabakh’s security and further resolution towards wider integration processes where Karabakh will be taken into account. If Karabakh becomes part of the integration processes, this will obstruct the decision put forward by Azerbaijan. In other words, the problem’s military solution desired by Azerbaijan is ruled out,” Artak Zakarian noted.
