Political scientist: Russia may accelerate Customs Union process

“It is not ruled out that after the developments in Ukraine, Russia - in order to avoid a domino effect - will accelerate the Customs Union process not only concerning Armenia, but also Belarus and Kazakhstan,” Deputy Director of the Caucasus Institute, political scientist Sergei Minasian told reporters today.

“Following the developments in Ukraine, the European integration processes in the South Caucasus and the post-Soviet space may take a new turn, which means that in this case Armenia will have the opportunity to develop multilateral relations with the European Union,” S. Minasian said.

In his words, serious events, particularly distribution of authority, are still to happen in Ukraine.
