Armenian parliament debates gas commission creation

The Armenian parliament discussed today the issue of forming an interim commission on natural gas issues.

Presenting the draft, the chairman of the Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs David Harutyunian proposed holding the commission’s sittings behind closed doors, which caused discontent of many parliamentary deputies.

Deputy Khachatur Kokobelian asked why sittings will be held behind closed doors. David Harutyunian replied that closed-door sittings are more serious ones, during which deputies don’t attempt to show off themselves. ‘Each MP is a showman,” Harutyunian said, adding that his words apply not only to the Armenian parliament’s deputies.
