Centuries-old history links Armenia and Georgia
The Armenian and Georgian peoples are linked by centuries-old friendly ties, Georgian President Georgy Margvelashvili stated today following the talks with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.
“Armenians based in Georgia play a great role in the political, social and economic development of Georgia. The best proof is that there are also MPs and political scientists of Armenian descent in our delegation,” G. Margvelashvili said.
In his words, Armenia and Georgia are linked by centuries-old history that forms a firm basis for cooperation of the two countries.
“I am glad that the Armenian president takes the same approach. Although we have different political vectors, we believe that only positive changes will occur and we will do our best to develop and deepen our relations,” the Georgian president said. In this connection he stated that the Armenian president is expected to pay a visit to Georgia.
Summarizing the results, Georgy Margvelashvili expressed his gratitude for the warm reception, noting that the presidents of the two states share the same opinion on all the issues.
