Sargsyan: Entry into CU does not impede our relations with Georgia

The choice of economic development paths of Armenia and Georgia cannot impede economic relations between the two countries, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stated today.

“Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union and Georgia’s decision to join the free trade agreement with the European Union cannot become an obstacle to the development of our economic ties. Quite the opposite, these choices of the two countries open up new opportunities for our entrepreneurs,” Serzh Sargsyan said at a briefing held after the negotiations with Georgian President Georgy Margvelashvili in Yerevan.

According to S. Sargsyan, during the talks Armenia’s participation in the integration processes in Eurasian region was touched upon.

“We informed the Georgian partners about the work done in this direction and further programs. We also presented out approaches and arguments, based on which we made a decision to join the Customs Union,”Serzh Sargsyan said.

In his words, the presidents of Armenia and Georgia were unanimous that all the conflicts should be resolved only by peaceful means in accordance with the principles of international law.
