Tevan Poghosian: No need to dream of Maidan in Armenia

“We should not dream of a ‘maidan’ in Armenia. Do we have resources to solve problems in Armenia by bloodshed?” the member of the opposition Heritage Party, parliamentary deputy Tevan Poghosian said at a meeting with reporters today.

He stressed the need to seek solutions to the problems at the negotiating table. “Maidan was a struggle between the opposition, authorities, oligarchs, geopolitical forces, and internally divided forces, which has resulted in bloodshed. Instead of that we should think about negotiating mechanisms. If there is a resource of negotiations, why follow a path of bloodshed?” Tevan Poghosian asked.

In his words, the opposition managed to advance their agenda in the parliament: discussions were held for creation of an ad hoc commission to look into the events of March 1, 2008.

“Regrettably, the opposition has failed to fulfill their initiatives. I hope they will gradually do it,” the MP said.
