Karen Saribekian: Azerbaijani statements don’t inspire optimism

“If the Azerbaijani president starts to speak about a military solution to the Karabakh conflict or the strongest Azerbaijani army at the regular meeting, then we can say with certainty that the meeting is doomed to fail,” member of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs Karen Saribekian told Aysor.am.

In his words, the statements and actions of Azerbaijan do not inspire optimism and it is hard to say whether it will be possible to organize a meeting of the presidents of the two countries.

“Meetings at the presidential level are useful when the sides express readiness to solve issues. To be frank, I am not very optimistic in this connection,” the deputy noted.

We would remind you that the U.S. Co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Ambassador James Warlick expressed hope that a regular meeting of the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan will take place in March.

“We hope the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan will meet this month. Only they can address the most difficult issues of peace”, James Warlick wrote on Twitter.
