Armenian president visits construction site of new government building
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited today the construction site of the new government building and familiarized himself with construction work done.
Chairman of the State Committee for Architecture Narek Sargsyan told reporters that after completion of the construction, the new government complex located at 3 Vazgen Sargsyan Street in Yerevan will house Armenia’s Foreign Ministry, Justice Ministry, and Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
Construction work is being done on an area of 5 thousand square meters. Foreign Ministry will be located in the front part of the building.
According to Narek Sargsyan, Foreign Ministry will occupy twice as much area compared with its old building, which will also be used to host foreign delegations.
“Another building will be constructed for Ministries of Territorial Administration and Diaspora,” Narek Sargsyan said.
Domestic building materials are being used in construction work. Facing stones from Artsakh have been brought to cover the building’s façade.
It is planned to build two parking lots near the government building. 10.9 billion drams will be invested in the construction being done by Spitak Tnak Company. The work will finish in the autumn of 2015.
