Minister: SEUA rector’s resignation not related to ‘Dem.am’ action

It is quite possible that State Engineering University of Armenia (SEUA) and Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction will be merged into one university, as in the Soviet time, Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotian told reporters during his visit to Clinical Hospital # 1 of State Medical University. In his words, the merger will have a positive impact on the university’s development.

As for the reason for SEUA rector Ara Avetisian’s resignation, the minister said that he will lecture at the university.

“Ara Avetisian’s resignation is not related to the action protest staged by Dem.am movement at the university. These rumors are not true,” Armen Ashotian said.

Ara Avetisian was relieved of his position as SEUA rector yesterday at his own request.
