Manukian: Opposition does not reject Abrahamian’s proposals, but …

The parliamentary opposition proposes forming an interim commission to examine ‘the hidden increase in the tax burden on citizens’, and the opposition at the same time does not reject speaker Hovik Abrahamian’s proposals, the secretary of Armenian National Congress (HAK) faction Aram Manukian said in the parliament today when speaking about the speaker’s proposals to present all the issues related to the interim commission’s creation to the appropriate bodies for discussion and hold parliamentary hearings in order to get answers to the questions.

“We want to form a commission because the government is not afraid of you, but it is afraid of us. You do nothing because you have no influence on the government, but it has some levers of influence on you,’ the deputy noted.

According to him, the parliamentary majority did not initiate anything until the opposition began to speak about the gas price. “You do nothing. When you start to work, we will move aside,” Aram Manukian said.

The four non-coalition factions of the Armenian parliament- ARF-Dashnaktsutyun, HAK, Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) and Heritage – propose forming an interim commission that will examine the legality of extra duties imposed on the population and business entities by the government and the Yerevan municipality in 2012-2013 as well as “the validity and consequences of the hidden increase of the tax burden on citizens by installing speed measuring devices, cameras, increasing public transport fare, etc.”
