Armenian president to make statement over Kesab events
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan will issue a press release over the recent events in Armenian-populated town of Kesab in northwestern Syria, the president’s spokesman Arman Saghatelian wrote on Twitter.
Tragic events have taken place in Kesab in the last few days. In violation of international laws and obligations, the Turkish side fired at Armenian villages of Kesab, helping the militants to capture Kesab.
Kesab is located on the border with Turkey. Thousands of Armenians live in Kesab with its Armenian party organizations, schools and hospitals.
Kesab has always been a target of Turkey and the Syrian developments gave Turkey an opportunity to displace Armenians from the town.
At the moment the majority of the Armenian population was evacuated from Kesab and given shelter in the seaport of Latakia.
