David Babayan: Peace maintenance is primary task
“I think the meeting of the two presidents expected to be held soon is important in the sense that the problem of stability in the South Caucasus becomes a primary one amid the recent developments in various parts of the world and the unstable situation”, the head of the Main PR Department of the NKR Presidential Staff David Babayan told Aysor.am in response to the question about his expectations from the possible meeting of the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The U.S. Co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group James Warlick said earlier that a meeting of the two presidents will be organized soon.
According to David Babayan, the talks should be aimed at establishing a lasting peace and stability in the region, with the sides expressing their commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
“The most important issue at the moment is to maintain a relative peace. Azerbaijan should understand that any reckless work or move could have negative consequences for the whole region,” he said.
