Armenian foreign minister: Denial is continuation of genocide

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian participated today in the Responsibility to Protect Conference on the prevention of genocides. The conference is held in Brussels by the Belgian Foreign Ministry on the 20th anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide.

“It is almost a hundred years that not only the Armenians, but also the international community have expected Turkey to recognize the Armenian Genocide. The 100th anniversary of that tragedy will be marked next year. As the people who suffered the first genocide of the 20th century, we have great moral responsibility to make our contribution to the international community’s efforts on the prevention of crimes against humanity,” E. Nalbandian said.

“It is obvious that one of the major reasons for genocide recurrence and new attempts to commit crimes against humanity is the absence of a common appropriate reaction of the international community. Genocide prevention is a responsibility to be shared by the international community,” the Armenian foreign minister stated.

‘The civilized world strongly rejects fomentation of hatred and racism, spread of intolerance, and denial of genocides and crimes against humanity under the pretext of freedom of speech. Denial is the continuation of genocide,” Edward Nalbandian stressed.
