YSU transfers 1 million drams for Kesab Armenians’ assistance
Yerevan State University (YSU) transferred 1 million drams to Hayastan All-Armenian Fund’s special account whose funds will be used to help the Armenian of Kesab, Syria. The Student Council of YSU allocated 500,000 drams.
“We express our support to the Syrians and the Syrian Armenians to whose lot many ordeals fell as a result of the unfair war, in particular the Kesab events. We express our readiness to provide any moral and material assistance to ease their suffering and losses,” YSE rector Aram Simonian said.
He called upon the Armenian public and the Armenians around the world to set aside inter-party differences and rally round the idea of helping the Armenians of Kesab and Syria.

Early March 21 the Armenian-populated town of Kesab in northern Syria and nearby settlements were attacked by militants of Al-Nusra Front and the Islamic Front groups that entered Syria from the Turkish territory. About 700 Armenian families were evacuated from Kesab to the province of Latakia.
