Aram Sargsyan: Candidate for PM should be sought outside Armenia

The reason of Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan’s resignation was the decision of the Constitutional Court about the new pension system and the subsequent government session, at which the responsible ministers did not receive a high assessment, the leader of Democratic Party of Armenia Aram Sargsyan told journalists today.

When asked if the non-coalition parties’ intention to hold 24-hour meetings starting from April 28 might be the reason of resignation, Aram Sargsyan replied that if they really had wanted to man the barricades, they would have done it until April 28.

In his words, if the Armenian president is willing to change the clannish, monopolistic system, he should appoint a man capable of making real changes as prime minister. In the opinion of Aram Sargsyan, such a person should be sought outside Armenia.

“But if the president wants to make only superficial changes, then there are plenty of such candidates,” he noted.
