Yerevan Municipality to allocate 300 million AMD for kindergarten repairs

This quarter Yerevan Municipality plans to implement programs in education, culture and sports, Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Aram Sukiasian said at a press conference today.

Speaking about the Last School Bell Day, the deputy mayor said that by tradition, the feast of pupils will be held on May 25.
“Most likely, a festive program will be organized in Freedom Square of Yerevan for school leavers on that day. I hope they will prefer such general festive events to restaurant parties. We call upon parents to send their children to Liberty Square instead of looking for alternative ways to celebrate their kids’ graduation from school, especially as these parties are costly,’ he noted.

As regards Yerevan Zoo which will open on May 1, Sukiasian said the municipality did its best to make the zoo one of the popular places in the capital city. “A tender was announced to improve the zoo,” he said.

Events in memory of the Armenian Genocide victims will take place on April 24, the deputy mayor said.

In his words, June 1 is going to be an eventful day, with a lot of festivities in various parks and gardens of the city. Composer Aram Khachatrian’s birthday on June 6 will also be celebrated with various events.

The municipality also has surprises in store for theatregoers. As part of Yerevan Summer program, children will have the opportunity to visit three Yerevan theatres and museums.

The deputy mayor underlined the problem of repairs and furnishing of Yerevan kindergartens, noting that about 300 million drams was allocated from the city budget for that purpose.
