Hovannisian: Heritage has presidential candidate, not candidate for PM
Heritage Party did not receive any proposal and has no intention of discussing the issue of the new prime minister with President Serzh Sargsyan, Heritage leader Raffi Hovannisian said at the rally in Liberty Square today.
Speaking about the possibility of entering into a coalition, Raffi Hovannisian said Heritage representatives cannot be members of a government under the current authorities.
He stressed that Heritage Party does not strike a bargain with anyone as now is a crucial moment for the country and everyone should take a constructive approach.
As regards the likely candidates for Armenian prime minister, Raffi Hovannisian said that they consider Hovik Abrahamian’s candidacy unacceptable.
“Any new premier will not enjoy confidence of the people. We are prepared to have meetings and hear opinions, but if the government system does not change in Armenia, then nothing will change in the country and the problems and migration will continue,” he noted.
Raffi Hovannisian stressed that at the moment Heritage Party has no candidate for prime minister. “We have a presidential candidate,” he stated.
We would remind you that during the April 3 sitting of the Executive Body of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan handed in his resignation, which was accepted by President Serzh Sargsyan. The Armenian president shall appoint a new prime minister within ten days.
