Exactly 22 years ago Azerbaijani troops attacked the Armenian village of Maragha, brutally killing its civilian population. 69 people were massacred in Maragha, 30 residents were killed in Margushavan village, the writer, publicist, Chairman of Shushi Charitable Foundation Bakur Karapetian told reports today during the presentation of his book ‘Margushavan, Maragha’.

Azerbaijani troops killed Armenians, sparing neither women nor children, Karapetian said noting that the Maragha massacre became a continuation of the 1915 Armenian Genocide and the pogroms in Sumgait and Baku.

Bakur Karapetian reminded those present of Baroness Cox’s words about the Maragha events. He also called for a more active information war, stressing the need for more active dissemination of true information about the tragic events in Sumgait, Baku and Maragha.
