Ruben Hakobian withdraws his candidacy

The National Assembly is now discussing the election of parliamentary speaker. There were three candidates for NA speaker – Galust Sahakian, Ruben Hakobian, and Hrant Bagratian. Ruben Hakobian, however, announced a short time ago that he decided to withdraw his candidacy in order to boycott the election of NA speaker.

Another candidate, Hrant Bagratian, said he will not withdraw his candidacy, regardless of everything.

“I will not withdraw because it is necessary to struggle even if only one person is left. The majority should not field its candidate without an alternative, without another candidate,” Bagratian explained.
