HAK refuses to work in pension reform commission

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamian sent a letter to Armenian National Congress (HAK) faction, inviting it to participate in the work of the commission being set up to make amendments in the Law on Accumulative Pensions, HAK faction secretary Aram Manukian said in the parliament today.

In his words, HAK refused to participate in the commission’s work. When presenting the reasons for refusal, Manukian said that HAK has repeatedly expressed its position on the compulsory accumulative pension system.

“We are against that proposal and submitted a written answer as our position on the accumulative system is very definite. We believe that it is no use participating in this commission’s work,” Manukian said.

He noted that the approach to the new government’s formation showed that nothing has changed in the country and the prime minister’s change does not solve any problems.

“The authorities are unable to implement any reforms and we rule out our cooperation with them,” Manukian said.
