Stepan Safarian: Armenia shifts to a policy of ‘neither… nor…’

In its foreign policy Armenia is shifting to a policy of ‘neither… nor…’ – neither the Customs Union nor the European Union, the secretary of Heritage Party Stepan Safarian said at a meeting with journalists today.

“Neither the Customs Union nor the EU as both vectors are related to difficulties. For Armenia, it is a timeout both in its foreign policy and in terms of its internal political problems,” Safarian said.

According to him, there is the same situation in the domestic political life of Armenia. “The newly formed government is a government of oligarchy. It will not be able to overcome the burden of problems, especially as tumultuous developments are expected on the foreign front as well,” he noted.

Commenting on the start of a new stage of negotiations with the EU, Safarian said it will not be easy to restore negotiations on the foreign front.
