The family lives in dire need, according to Haykaz Khojoyan.

There have been no positive changes in health of Mamikon Khojoyan, his son Haykaz Khojoyan told Aysor.am. Mamikon Khojoyan is a 77-year-old Armenian citizen who was held captive in Azerbaijan and handed over to Armenia on March 4.

The family lives in dire need, according to Haykaz Khojoyan.

“No one has assisted us financially during this time. The only income of our family is father’s pension. One of the brothers currently works abroad. He helps us, but this money is barely enough to buy medicine for father. He needs special care,” Haykaz noted.

According to Haykaz, he cannot leave his father alone because he is the only person whom Mamikon Khojoyan recognizes and when Haykaz is absent, the father starts to look for him and gets worried. “He recognizes only me and when I am absent, he starts to look for me. So I can only cultivate land in a small garden and keep chickens. This cannot continue forever – I have to earn money to keep my father,” Haykaz said.

With the assistance of the Tavush regional unit of Armenian Ministry of Health, medical teams have regularly visited Mamikon Khojoyan in the past month.

Mamikon Khojoyan, a resident of Verin Karmiraghbyur village in Armenia’s Tavush province, crossed into Azerbaijan on January 28, 2014. He was handed over to the Armenian side on March 4. The elderly man was in a grave condition. Numerous traces of violence and a gunshot wound were found on his body.
