Iran’s ambassador: It’s possible to help Karabakh settlement via mediation

It is possible to help settle the Nagorno Karabakh conflict through the mediation, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsum Pakain was quoted as saying by Iran’s Fars news agency.

“Iran’s political weight in the region and the opportunities given to Tehran within the chairmanship of Non-Aligned Movement for maintenance of regional peace and prevention of a resumption of the Karabakh war may play an influential role,” the ambassador stated.

“In my opinion, in case of development of an influential project and a roadmap, it will be possible to help the sides settle the conflict through the mediation,” the Iranian ambassador said.

We would remind you that at a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, President of Iran Hassan Rouhani said: “We should make every effort so that the regional conflicts, including the Karabakh conflict, will be resolved within bounds of justice and international norms. In our opinion, a geographic change of borders in the region is inadmissible, therefore we should make efforts so that a peaceful and political solution could be found to the existing contradictions”.
